In previous blogs, we have set up a single page for all comments about our trip. We decided to do the same thing again this year as we visit Northern Europe and cruise the Atlantic back home.
Comments are moderated, and we won’t have constant internet access, so if your comments don’t show up right away, know that we will read everything and post the ones we think will be of general interest.
(It’s an easy form of semi-private email if you don’t have our email addresses handy.)

Europe beware! The US Gap Inspector-General is here. Oh, I hope you don’t go to the Hadrian Wall because there are a lot of gaps in that ancient wall. Yes, the Mexican Wall (to keep out rapists as the possible new Commander in Grief said) is much better.
What did you do in London? Well, we were sitting in a bus watching rushhour. How wonderful! Yes, it was very exciting because they all were driving on the wrong side of the road, they do that much better in Boston.
By the way, most visitors going to London know that the London hotelrooms are small and expensive. However, spending some time for searching a larger room is possible. Remember: when you pay peanuts, you sleep in a monkey’s shack!
When you still have pound sterling banknotes, please change them because in Scotland they don’t like those banknotes. Go to a bank and ask for “whisky” pounds, they know what you mean and will give you Scottish banknotes.

Sounds like you guys are eating a lot of Italian food in Scotland… how about haggis and blood pudding? Mmmmmmm! Delicious. That’s why the whisky is so good…I am glad you have terrific weather. I love Edinburgh: the people are wonderful over there.
Say Hi to Andy Murray if you see him. Tell him we’re sorry he came second in the French Open.
We have not had a bad meal yet, but then again we have not ventured into real Scottish specialties like haggis and I don’t really like whiskey. But you can get good Italian and French wine here. My question is, if Britain leaves the EU on June 23rd, do they go back to their traditional food? In that case, I’m against it.
Our hostess was glued to the TV hoping Andy Murray would win, but alas.

I’ve been reading your entries to my mother and she enjoys hearing about the food mostly, whereas I like PJs descriptions of the countryside. I look forward to seeing more pictures since I know you’re an excellent photographer.
On behalf of my mom, this must be a very emotional trip for you and a truely deja vu experience. Be sure to tell her all about it when you get home.

Arjan, I really appreciated your description of the glaciers and the danger in navigating ariund the icebergs. So vivid! My mother and I flew over Greenland on our way to England back in 1967. I’ve always wanted to go there. Say ‘hi’ to PJ. Glad to hear she’s better. XO
