entered the harbor of Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, in East Iceland, this morning.\u00a0 I had signed up for a tour described as a 75-minute bus ride with a hike to a waterfall at the end.\u00a0 Because P.J does not walk that well, she chose to stay in town.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_192\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/pjgardner.com\/travel2\/wp-content\/uploads\/P7234684-edit.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-192\" class=\"size-full wp-image-192\" src=\"http:\/\/pjgardner.com\/travel2\/wp-content\/uploads\/P7234684-edit.jpg\" alt=\"Veendam in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Harbor\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-192\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Veendam in Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur Harbor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The bus ride went over a mountain pass.\u00a0 There were wide open vistas, even more so because of the lack of trees, and waterfalls everywhere.\u00a0 With the perfectly crystal clear weather, it was spectacular.\u00a0 Our Icelandic guide told us that they had a lot of snow at the higher elevations this past winter, followed by a cold spring.\u00a0 Therefore, there was still a lot of snowmelt from the mountains, and the waterfalls were rich with water.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1162\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sey\u00f0isfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur from the Pass (by Arjan Post)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At the end of the bus ride, we parked at the start of the hiking trail to the Hengifoss waterfall.\u00a0 They gave us two and a half hours to do it, each at our own pace.\u00a0 I was able to keep a high enough pace to arrive at the falls before the crowd, in relative solitude.<\/p>\n<div sec)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the way back I took a spur trail, and I was one of the last ones down, walking with the tour leader who was responsible for making sure everyone was off the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>After the hike, one of the women approached a tour leader with an urgent tone of voice, \u201cPlease, do you have a cell phone I can borrow?\u201d\u00a0 After the tour leader replied she did not and inquired what the emergency was, the reply was, \u201cI just did this hike, and I desperately need a spa treatment.
