We are staying at Togwotee Mountain Lodge, east of Grand Teton National Park.<\/p>\n<p>We left in the morning under dense smoke.\u00a0 We\u00a0feared we might not see much in Yellowstone, but when we got there, skies became clearer and as the day wore on we had some\u00a0light rain.\u00a0\u00a0By the end of the day, the visibility had improved dramatically.\u00a0 Some applause for rain!<\/p>\n<p>Early on, when\u00a0there was still sun, we happened to catch an eruption of Grand Geyser, the largest predictable geyser in the park (larger than Old Faithful).\u00a0 I took a 4-minute video:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/mOIamhYhDPE\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/mOIamhYhDPE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you think it is done, hang on. Other geysers to the left start up and the Grand Geyser revives again, too!\u00a0 We also saw an unexpected eruption of the Grotto Geyser, and eruptions of Old Faithful and Daisy Geyser.\u00a0 All-in-all another successful day.\u00a0 P.J. got some of her postcards, but we did fail to catch the Riverside Geyser in the act (another postcard, but it went off too early).<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, we found that we could not have dinner anywhere in the park, just fast food.\u00a0 All the restaurants were reserved, and the only one that did not take reservations had a 70-minute wait.\u00a0\u00a0Yellowstone is overcrowded, and we were told it was not nearly as bad as in August!\u00a0 Lodging for next year is already filling up!<\/p>\n<p>We\u00a0made a mad 84-mile dash back to our lodging at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vintage Postcard Project:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/pjgardner.com\/vintage\/september-23-yellowstone-national-park\" title=\"Aunt Esther's Vintage Postcards(new site)\">September 23: Yellowstone National Park<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mile 9623 &#8211; Local miles.
