Never go to sea without something to drink. I wish I had brought the jug of ice cubes, and some fresh drinking water or some soda or juice. I don’t trust the purity of the water in the boat’s tank—it hasn’t been purified this year. The lemonade in the little box was a good idea. It was refreshing, even if not cold, and it keeps without refrigeration. It is something to stock up on. Also some non-diet drink to balance the diet coke that is on board. Some snax [sic] that keep would also be good. The cookies from last year were still O.K.
This cabin was too cluttered, so I had to stow a bunch of cockpit cushions in the quarter berth just to clear this one bunk—good thing I’m the only one here. The fore cabin is full of sail bags, and the port berth is full of cushions and my briefcase. My reading light is flickering, but I can read O.K.
I sailed all the way out here using the new main and big jib. The new main is hard to take down—it doesn’t fall free like the old one, but must be pulled down at the track. Also it is bulkier to stow and doesn’t fit in cover.
